Linguagem comprises a team of linguists, editors, translators and graphic designers who have specialised in compiling, designing and translating technical texts. Here is a brief summary of the services we offer plus a few examples.

1) Technical documentation

Linguagem takes a great deal of trouble to compile any kind of documentation that is needed. Ranging from operating instructions for office equipment and special machines, installation manuals for alarm systems through to service instructions for materials-handling systems in mining. Linguagem fulfils every demand.

In addition to this service, Linguagem will update existing documentation and translate operating instructions for products that are to be simultaneously launched on several foreign markets.

2) Software localisation

These services include the localisation of software. In other words, conversion and adaptation of user interfaces in computer programs to the language and cultural characteristics of a particular country. The advantage here is that users can then operate programs in their own language instead of having to work with English commands (like in most programs).

This service includes both compilation and translation of the complete documentation for the software, both electronic and in print.

3) Computer-aided translation

Faster, more consistent, less expensive.

To optimise the translation process, Linguagem makes use of databases, "translation memories", for terminology and recurring text elements to simplify translation from the source language into the target language.

Apart from this, editing and translation can be ready at almost the same time . . .
